Have you ever dreamed of creating something beautiful and unique with your own hands? Of escaping the daily rush and immersing yourself in a creative process that calms the mind and brings real satisfaction?

Working with clay has something magical about it — it allows you to transform a shapeless lump into an object with soul. And when you add the glazing stage — giving your piece color and shine — you end up with a complete work of functional art. That’s exactly the journey offered by a ceramics course with glazing in Kraków at the ŁYKO Ceramika studio. In our studio, you’ll discover the secrets of creating unique ceramic tableware. Classes take place in small groups (4–8 people) under the guidance of experienced instructors.

How long is the ceramics course with glazing, and what does it involve?
Our workshops are not a one-time meeting but a complete, two-part journey into the world of ceramics. This experience allows you to fully understand and experience the entire process. The course consists of two sessions, each lasting an intensive 2.5 hours. It’s a thoughtfully structured program that lets you explore handbuilding and glazing techniques at a relaxed pace.

Workshop schedule:
Session I – The Magic of Handbuilding
The first session is your introduction to clay — where the magic begins! You’ll learn basic but incredibly versatile handbuilding techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, hollowing, and slab building. You’ll have two blocks of clay at your disposal, enough to create several pieces — for example, a mug and a plate. You can also focus on a single larger project, such as a vase, bowl, or planter. This is a fantastic foundation that will give you confidence and solid skills for your ceramic journey. If it’s your first time in a ceramics workshop, we recommend making a few smaller pieces. This way, you can try different techniques and experiment more freely during the glazing stage.

Session II – The Art of Glazing
After the first session, your pieces need to dry and be fired in a professional kiln to create bisque ware. Once they’re ready, you’ll return for the second session. Here, you’ll have access to over 50 colorful glazes, as well as underglaze and overglaze paints and ceramic pencils. Our instructors will guide you on which options will best bring your idea to life. You’ll learn how to properly prepare your ceramic pieces for glazing and how to apply glazes skillfully to achieve your desired effect.

You’ll explore three glazing techniques: brushing, pouring, and dipping. This is the stage where your pieces gain color, character, and their final shine. You can choose to focus on painting a precise design with underglaze paints or go wild with traditional glazes. Maybe you want a dripping glaze effect? Our instructors will answer all your questions. The final result depends on many factors: the thickness of the bisque walls, glaze consistency, preparation, chosen technique, and experience. Our advice: enjoy the process without worrying too much about the outcome — glazes can be surprising, and our participants constantly discover new color combinations.

Skills You’ll Gain & Who the Course is For
During the course, you’ll not only learn practical handbuilding and glazing techniques but also unleash your creativity and relax like never before. These workshops are for anyone who wants to develop their manual skills and dreams of drinking morning coffee from a cup they made themselves. It doesn’t matter if you think you have no artistic talent or if you already have some experience and want to organize your knowledge. Our studio is open to everyone — beginners and intermediate participants alike. The ceramics course is intended for adults only.

Cost and What’s Included
Koszt dwuczęściowego kursu to 380 zł. Kurs obejmuje 5 godzin warsztatów pod okiem instruktora, materiały, szkliwa, dwa wypały w piecu. Warsztatom towarzyszyć będzie relaksacyjna muzyka, drobny poczęstunek, kawa/herbata/2 kieliszki wina.

When Do Ceramics Courses Take Place?
The two-part course costs 380 PLN. It includes 5 hours of workshops under an instructor’s guidance, materials, glazes, and two kiln firings. The sessions are accompanied by relaxing music, light snacks, coffee/tea, and two glasses of wine.

How to prepare for the workshops?
Wear comfortable clothes that can get a little messy — we provide protective aprons. If possible, come with short nails for handbuilding, as it’s much easier. The studio is heated, but in winter it can be slightly cooler.

Workshop Group Size
Groups range from 4–8 participants, with a minimum of 4 people. In exceptional cases, we run sessions for 3 participants. If the minimum number isn’t met, participants will be offered a new date or a refund.

From Idea to Finished Piece
What happens after the second session? Your works go back into a professional kiln. At high temperatures, the glaze fuses with the clay, creating a durable and beautiful surface. After about two weeks, your fully functional, food-safe, dishwasher-friendly pieces will be ready for pickup. We store works for up to three months after the workshop date, so remember to collect them!

If you’re thinking about giving someone this unique experience, a workshop voucher is a fantastic gift. It offers not only a beautiful object but also lasting memoriesand a new passion.
